Wes Edens is a Respected businessman

Wes is a respected businessman, philanthropist, and founder of Fortress Investment Group. He is also the founder of the Wes Edens Company, which is a holding company for many of his investments. He was born in 1962 in Ann Arbor, Michigan. Wes Edens is a billionaire who started his business from scratch.

His first company was called “Wesco.” Wesco was later sold to Xerox for 1 billion dollars. In 1997 he started Fortress Investments Group with Peter Briger and Robert Kauffman and George Maloof and John Hickenlooper as partners. The other partners are Rob Kauffman, Peter Briger, and Jeff Skoll, all billionaires themselves.

In 2005 he invested in AEG and bought 100% of their stake in the Los Angeles Dodgers baseball team for 2 billion dollars. AEG stands for Anschutz Entertainment Group, which owns significant sporting events such as the Los Angeles Olympics and L.A.’s Staples Center arena, where many concerts are held every year. The deal between Edens & AEG was finalized after a lengthy legal battle with Frank McCourt, who owned the Dodgers. However, McCourt later sold his share to Edens & AEG, so they became sole owners of the team. On February 19, 2011, it was announced that Wesco would be renamed “The Fortress Investment Group.”

His expertise has allowed him to learn how different businesses operate to make sound investments when they are available to buy or sell on their terms without dealing with an outside investor or manager who may have an agenda other than their own best interests at heart. He knows what it takes to be successful at growing businesses by taking advantage of market trends while keeping true to their core values.
